Masrhon - J1 and Aliosha
Masrhon Biography

In 2003 one of the producer’s car stereo suddenly plays the cassette player slower than usual, as if a turntable's speed were set to -10. This, added to their new found interest in music making softwares gave birth to a Dominican trip hop project later on named Masrhón. Masrhón, roughly translated, "more rum" is a fusion of electronic music programming and live instruments, covered by the shade of caribbean palm trees and topped with lyrics that reflect irony, concerning social-cultural aspects of our world versus the everyday latin american reality. They appeared in the Dominican music scene in 2004 with the release of their first single "920", which went directly to #1 on local radio stations. The band began making live shows and the producers quickly went to work in what was to be their debut album "Mucha Nada" (lot's of nothing) released for distribution on April 2005. Mucha Nada was well accepted by the trip hop and electronic community, and had two more tracks hit the no.1 spot on national radio stations. The two singles, a remake of "Señales de Humo" originally written by Dominican composer Juan Luis Guerra, of international acclaim, and "Sobremesa" which has recently been featured in the FIFA World Cup 2006 Germany Soundtrack to be played on all video game platforms. Mucha Nada left a mark on the caribbean music community with its blend of electronic music, jazz, rock and latin percussive elements, combined with four singers, including an MC and a dominican-french female jazz vocalist.

In 2006 Masrhón released their second production, an EP of four songs to be distributed exclusively digital. The album's titled "Reinvent" a name that captures the band's interest of looking and working with songs from different angles. Dressed in melodic instrumentation, hard stepping beats, (but still 100% to chill out to) Reinvent has three original songs that bring a different proposal to the trip hop style. The other one is a remake of David Byrne's "The Accident". It was picked to be the single for the Ep, and the song is accompanied by a music video which was shot in still photography and then animated, a different and interesting proposal for the promotion of this single and the album.

Masrhón is curently preparing the recordings of their third effort, a full lenght album not to be listened to by the heart fainted. Keep checking this space for more updates.
